Computec IT Pty Ltd (ABN 78 649 227 725) is committed to providing quality services to you and this policy outlines our ongoing obligations to you in respect of how we manage your Personal Information.
We have adopted the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). The APPs govern how we collect, use, disclose, store, secure, and dispose of your Personal Information.

Personal Information

Client System Data
In the course of providing IT support and managed services, Computec IT may access, process, or come into contact with personal information belonging to our clients’ customers, employees, or other third parties that is stored within client systems, networks, or cloud environments.
We treat all such information as strictly confidential and will only access it to the extent necessary to deliver the services requested. Our staff and contractors are bound by confidentiality obligations that extend to any third-party personal information encountered during the course of providing services.
We will not retain, copy, or store client system data beyond what is reasonably required to deliver the relevant services. Third Parties
Where reasonable and practicable to do so, we will collect your Personal Information only from you. However, in some circumstances we may be provided with information by third parties. In such a case we will take reasonable steps to ensure that you are made aware of the information provided to us by the third party.
Disclosure of Personal Information
Your Personal Information may be disclosed in the following circumstances:
• To third parties where you consent to the use or disclosure; and
• Where required or authorised by law.
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your Personal Information to third parties for marketing purposes without your consent.
Security of Personal Information
Your Personal Information is stored in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure.
When your Personal Information is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was obtained, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify it. Most Personal Information is stored in client files which will be kept by us for a minimum of 7 years.
Notifiable Data Breaches
Computec IT complies with the Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme under Part IIIC of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). In the event of an eligible data breach that is likely to result in serious harm to any individual whose personal information is involved, we will notify the affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as soon as practicable.
Access to Your Personal Information
You may access the Personal Information we hold about you and request that it be updated or corrected, subject to certain exceptions. If you wish to access your Personal Information, please contact us in writing.
To protect your Personal Information, we may require identification from you before releasing the requested information.
Maintaining the Quality of Your Personal Information
It is important to us that your Personal Information is accurate and up to date. We will take reasonable steps to ensure that your Personal Information is accurate, complete, and current. If you find that the information we hold is inaccurate or out of date, please advise us as soon as practicable so we can update our records.
